A new law is set to take place in New York to ban natural gas for new buildings and residences. What does this mean to you?
A law banning natural gas, in new construction, is set to pass in 2026. What this means is that new residences or buildings (under seven stories) will no longer be using natural gas. This would not affect homes built before 2026. This probable new law is focusing on the green initiative. Luckily, we offer electric radiators that can be used for these new applications. What is a Towel Radiator and the benefits of them?
We like to call our product “towel radiators” because not only is it a towel warmer, but it is also a radiator. The towel radiator eliminates the need to put the baseboard along the base of the bathroom where it is undersized and diminishes the look of the radiator over time. Towel Radiators also allow you to take advantage of the 24” to 36” set aside for a towel bar and use that space as a functional heating space, Warmth by Design. Solutions to the two most common bathroom heating issues:
- It warms and dries your towels.
- It can act as the main heat source in the bathroom, making it a cleaner installation by eliminating the need for a baseboard in the room.

What this means is that 100% of the electric energy used is converted into heat. Traditional baseboard products utilize lightweight construction which does not hold heat. As a result, when the room temperature is reached, they turn off and stop transmitting warmth into space whereas Runtal Electric products “store heat” because of the heavy steel construction which continues to radiate heat well after the room temperature has been satisfied. As a result, Runtal Electric Baseboard and Wall Panels do not have to continue to cycle on and off like a traditional electric baseboard product would do.
HOW HEAT MOVES AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FORCED AIR / CONVECTIVE HEATING AND RADIANT HEATING.
Radiant heating and forced air/convection systems are based on two completely different means of heat transfer. Forced air systems drive warm air, using a blower to push warm air into the room through a series of ductwork. Convection-only systems rely on the principle that hot air rises. They also transfer heat using air movement, which is the most inefficient. A radiant system, however, “radiates” heat into the space, similar to the sun. This process warms all of the occupants and physical objects as a primary means of comfort. The added secondary benefit is “free” convective heat transfer.
