Hydronic vs. Electric Towel Radiators
Choosing between hydronic and electric comes down to one thing: how you plan to use it.
Hydronic towel radiators connect to your home’s hot water heating system, so they only run when the heat is on. They’re a good option if you want the unit to act as a primary heat source and already have a hydronic system in place.
Electric towel radiators operate independently, which means you can use them year-round. They’re ideal if your goal is simple: warm, dry towels and a little extra heat whenever you want it.
One important note if you have hydronic in-floor radiant heat, electric is usually the better choice. Those systems run at lower temperatures, which often aren’t high enough to properly warm towels.
Quick Guide
- Choose electric for daily use, easy installation, and year-round comfort
- Choose hydronic if you want to heat the room and already have a hot water system
It’s less about which is “better” and more about what you need it to do.
